Ever since our trip along the Klamath River, I've been dreaming of incorporating audio stories into the work that I share. And when I decided to do a record about Sonoma Mountain, I knew that launching a narrative podcast with stories from the mountain would be a wonderful way to share this place with others.
So, we have just launched a podcast entitled 'Where the World Begins; A podcast about Connection to Place'. Listen to the first episode here on apple podcasts, or on our website. In a few short words, this podcast explores the way we people change place and the way place changes us through soundscape, song, and story.
This was really inspired by my long-time love of This American Life, as well as other incredible podcasts like Home of the Brave and Rumble Strip Vermont.
This first season covers stories from wildfire, symbols in the American West, gender identity in rural places, traditional ecological knowledge, and regenerative ranching. All of the stories relate to life on Sonoma Mountain, and my decision to move to a ranch in my early 20s, hoping to find purpose, peace, deeper meaning, and the ways in which I did a did not find those answers I thought life on a ranch would provide.
There will be episodes released every few weeks, so subscribe, share it if you like it, and stay tuned!
